Re: New MSB about to be issued
To my surprise I got a call from Diamond in Egelsbach/Germany earlier last week. They were asking me to ferry the plane to their Diamond Platinum Center in Germany, cores are available and they could almost immediately commence the work on my RH engine with AL concentration >24ppm. I did not expect ...

Re: New MSB about to be issued
Bad news! Oil analysis of my RH engine shows an AL concentration of 27 ppm (LH 7ppm). Both engines are OVH engines replaced in autumn 2020 with now around 250h. Info was sent to DAI in the beginning of this week. Up to now no reaction... The plane is now de facto grounded and sitting on the tarmac i...

Flying with tall pax or how tall are you and feel comfortable in a DA42?
Does somebody of you have experience flying with tall passengers? I want to fly a 3h leg with a good friend of mine on the co-pilot seat. We've never flown together before and he measures 6,6ft (or 2,02m). Are you in that size and feel comfortable in a DA42 or carried pax that tall? Please let me kn...

Re: Landing Grass
I have now worries landing my 42NG on a grass strip that is well maintained and has a runway length of 3.000ft+ (depending on density altitude). Usually I call the airport beforehand asking for runway condition. One of my favourite grass strips in Europe is Venice-Lido with approx. 3.000ft. If you h...

Re: Coolant leakage
A couple of years ago I had a coolant leakage on both engines at the same time. We detected the leakage after landing in Kangerlussuaq after a 4h hour leg over Greenland No joy! It could have been our last flight. We tightened the hose clamps and thereby stopped the leakage. The hoses had been repla...

Cleaning of seat covers
Can anybody suggest a good method of cleaning the seat covers? I own a 2010 DA42NG the material is a combination of artificial leather I guess and fabric.

Re: Recommended iPad model
I have the same iPad (Air2) setup like Andrew, using a mygoflight adapter (see picture). Years ago I had attached the suction cup to the vent window, which finally broke the lock (now I have 3D printed locks - thanks to Kai). I make sure that the cup is attached forward of the window. Other than tha...
