Re: New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option

I think I would start with four gallons of TKS fluid AAALLLLLL the way in the back of the luggage compartment and see where I was after that. Helpful to have along, too.

Re: DA40NG Coolant Leak and ECU A Failure

A mechanic I talked to said the Continentals are run too hot in the Cirrus planes, which burns out the cylinders sooner than the engine needs to be overhauled. He figures it means they get more performance from a legacy engine.

Re: DA40NG Coolant Leak and ECU A Failure

Correct. Both were accessory or electrical system issues. As Deakin said, when he rode around above CMA fiddling with the mixture and accelerating my heart rate, "These things just go forever." Ten hours later the left magneto died on approach to a small airport in Albuquerque. Since there...

Re: Map light brightness

You could cut a little circle of red film to go over it. That way it would be less bright and also protect your night vision.

Re: Moving from DA40-XLS to DA40-NG Questions

I am at KOWD, there is no engine shop on the field (and I have two of them to worry about). It seems like KMGJ is the closest engine shop, but I am not concerned due to my experience with the plane. So far the things that have put me on the ground were things that I solved myself (wire to the starte...

Re: ANNUAL INSPECTIONS

But you are in Florida? (Or at least, your Airport in your member info shows up as Florida.) That's a long way to go for an annual.

Re: DECALS

The people I have seen doing ramp checks are not informed enough to know the difference between what Diamond delivered and what is sitting on the ramp. I would be really surprised if Arnaud had any difficult if he decides to fly to Oshkosh this summer. The CBP has been authorized to do the equivalen...

Re: Refilling TKS

DW Davies was 26.50 per gallon with shipping for me, tksfluid.com was $27 with shipping (since shipping was free). The DW Davies will come in one gallon jugs which might be marginally easier to deal with.

Rich, I wish that I was in a hangar at an airpark with you and a few other retired pilots. That's the sort of project I love and do not have the talent for.

Re: CD-155 Engine Startup

Times that it has been cold ("wicked" cold here near Boston), or times that I have let the plane sit too long (six weeks was the longest), I have heeded my mechanics advice and pulled the "GEAR" breaker before tuning on the master. That meant that the pressure pump didn't rob the...
