Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40

Wow - Sorry to be the stick in the mud but I am a realist - I wouldn't have published these results. About 5 knots true faster than I get in the same conditions out here. Not a big deal. My understanding was that the MAP was lower than expected. Much more improvements need to be made. They worked on...

Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40

A friend of mine is to test fly this 40 in the next week or two. I will let you know what he thinks. What reduced performance?? I get 143 true easy at 14K over the rockies. No problem. I do it all the time. Climbing up to that point is another matter. Before anyone gets too caught up in the potentia...

Re: Considering a DA40 - Need advice on changes in model yea

Used WAAS and A/P just the other day on a practice approach. Took down to around 100 ft or so, clicked off A/P and hand landed. Worked perfect. Pretty cool. Just had to manage speed with the throttle. That said, I prefer to do approaches in "actual" by hand.

Re: Continental Ebgines sold to AVIC International (BEJING)

There still is the FAA to contend with. We're not talking about cookies or toys. An aircraft engine can be made on the moon, but if it does not adhere to certain FAA approved production standards it does not get certified. Correct? BTW - I think it sucks that this is happening for a number of reason...

Re: Considering a DA40 - Need advice on changes in model yea

My 2 cents - WAAS has made IFR flying safer in general and it is the future. In addition to many other advantages, it has given the ability for precision approaches to runways which previously did not have, nor ever will have due to cost, an ILS approach. My home airport previously had only one prec...

Re: Highest DA in a DA40?

Headed out West of Denver for a little lunch. Big winds (60 Knots!!!) so I decided to fligh high to stay away from any crazy rotors. Still making great True even though the ground speed sucked!!! Sorry for the poor picture. This thing just wouldn't stop climbing!! 30 gallons and 350 lbs in pilot and...

Re: Prop Damage DA 40 XLS

Wow. What strikes me is that the leading edge separated so cleanly.... Pretty unusual for metal.

I'll be VERY VERY curious to hear what the MT guys (and gals) have to say.

Please keep us advised...

Spinners.....

My original spinner got a bit goofed up - cosmetic scratch. I'll replace it at some point. I've got the three blade MT prop. Any ideas on options? Is there an aluminum spinner available for the three blade?
