Re: Some Great Flying

This is from over the top of KMCO the other night Wow, with their North/South runways they let you go overhead on a North/South direction. I've never been able to get overflight permission at MCO in any direction. It must still be pretty slow out there. Yeah, it was pretty boring airspace that even...

Re: Engine Vibration and Exhaust Noise at Low Power Settings

Sorry to dig this thread back up, but I was wondering if you might have confirmed if this was the issue or not? Shortly after my annual in February I started noticing a similar issue. I figured it might be some sort of vibration in the cockpit at first, but I consistently only notice this grinding/v...

Re: Tire Wear Question

Hey Steve,

Thanks for the response! I think you may have nailed it: this does seem like a "new old stock" issue to me. I'll check the sidewall for a date code next time I'm by the plane and look to address it then.

Tire Wear Question

Hi there, I had my left main tire replaced a few months ago, given it had clearly developed a flat spot that needed to be addressed. I noticed today that this still-pretty-new tire has some small cracks in the outer tread area. Looking for advice on if this is something I should be worried about or ...

Re: Lightspeed Tango Headset

I have three pairs of Tangos and have been using them exclusively since getting my DA40 in December '18. I love them, for the most part. Initial pairing of a phone or iPad to Bluetooth can indeed be a little finicky, but I've found they re-pair immediately after getting that sorted out once. From ti...

Re: Who do you use for insurance? Ours just doubled

Eastern Aviation Insurance/Aerovon has been really easy to work with, in my limited experience. For my 2004 DA40, $1,523 on $210k hull + $266 for $1mm/$100k, $5k medical, $100k voluntary settlement ex. crew for a total of $1,789 for the year, despite relatively low total hours and time in type. That...
