Re: Round the Rockies
Setting VS to zero is also going to cause the AP to chase the waves, right? A couple of years ago in strong turbulence, I tried VS=0, holding PIT mode, and the AP continued to throw errors because it couldn't keep up with the constant oscillations. I just ended up turning it off and hand flying.

Re: Bucket List Item - P51D Mustang
That’s what I’m talking about! Your video reminded me that the thing I found so delightful about the Mustang was how leisurely the vertical maneuvers were: speed and power give you all the time in the world compared to the glider and Pitts aerobatics I was familiar with. The power is spectacular. Y...

Re: Bucket List Item - P51D Mustang
I had my hour in Crazy Horse about 25 years ago, and it was just as you portrayed it: a bucket list item that somehow lived up to my expectations. Somewhere in a box I may still have the Betamax tape of the flight... ;) Haha, Lee just upgraded to digital cameras last year. Here is the video on YouT...

Bucket List Item - P51D Mustang
Checked off another bucket list item this week! I've dreamed of flying a P51D Mustang since I was a little boy. I built many toy models and saved my allowance and babysitting money for months to buy a gas-powered remote-controlled P51 plane that I unfortunately crashed on its maiden flight 🙁 As you ...

Re: Tug for DA40 NG
It's really helpful to use the search function built into DAN, or even better, search DAN with Google specifying diamondaviators.net as a domain filter. Here is a good thread on tugs:

Re: The glaring weaknesses in flight training
I think it is even more scary when you consider new MOSAIC proposals potentially allowing sport pilots to fly larger, more powerful aircraft. We all want to increase GA, but sacrificing safety to do so is crazy. I think the PPL PTS should include more basic instrument instruction, preferably in IMC,...

Very sad. Unfortunate those guys talking in the video didn't render immediate help rather than standing there yelling "WTF"

Re: Prop governor
I heard back from MT USA today. When they opened the prop there was zero grease inside. It was completely dry. The bearings were damaged. They found that a piece of one of the bearing races had broken off. They said they saw signs of heat damage. I'm not sure how this happened. The prop is 390 hrs ...
