Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition

My overall fuel efficiency is similar at 7.48 gallons per Hobbs hour across 66.1 hours if that helps anyone else, but gotta love that G1000 data! Thank you! I get 8.62 gallons per flight hour using the VM1000 tach time across 57.4 tach hours. These numbers include climb, descent, cruise across 32 fl...

Re: Ipad Mini Mount Recommendations for DA 40

To make things confusing and add more Steve’s to the conversation, I mount on the left side of the canopy to keep my panel clear. Holds tight even mounted and opening the canopy. I’ve never had it come loose. I did have them move the USB power to the left with the avionics work after this picture to...

Re: Round the Rockies

Thanks Russ. I’ll give it a try next time. So with the KAP140 would that mean changing to VS mode at 0 fps and setting the altitude hold way off of current altitude to prevent recapturing an altitude with arm off?

Re: electric artificial horizon maintenance

John's (jwx96) comments are spot on. The Gi275's strengths are more functionality if you're looking that direction to replace more than just AI. The RC Allen was attractive for me, but reversionary mode with the G500TXi was the reason I went with it and I'm still really impressed with the functional...

Re: electric artificial horizon maintenance

Pricing is much ch better for the RC. I have a Garmin G500TXi and GU275 as backup ADI & MFD. The advantage even with the GI275 which is like a mini-G500 is integration with Garmin with ADS-B In (I have GDL88) and KAP140 for GPS Steering which is much more responsive to wind correction and turns ...

Re: An Excellent Eclipse Adventure

Thanks for the great video! It provides a lot of context what my colleague shared about how it looked like night then dawn all around at the same time when it was ending. Very cool and nice to see what a 360 camera can do.

Re: electric artificial horizon maintenance

RC Allen is a fantastic, cost-effective choice for basic flight instrument replacement as is a Garmin GI275 if you have more Garmin gear. I’ve also been really pleased with the GI275 GPSS (GPS Steering) integration with the KAP140 autopilot and GNS430W/530W.

Is this the case only for G1000 or also VM1000 equipped?
