Flying the Caribbean (Part 4) - to South Caicos -- Ever been in a Holding stack with 2 airliners?

-wUp8JJ7sZs We're now heading out over the water, refueling in the Bahamas, and on to Turks & Caicos. Decent weather, an interesting instrument approach to a busy airport, and 2 nights on very quiet enjoyable island. Share your "holding" stories... ours was in a holding stack with two airliners. We...

Russ, We have pretty similar techniques on weather assessment. Of the 13 flying days... we had weather challenges on only 2 days, eastbound in central Texas... and you guessed it, westbound in central Texas! Captured the iPad video using the iOS standard Screen Recording... Settings, Control Center,...

Re: Flying the Caribbean (Part 3) - Eastbound USA -- How do you divvy up multi-day trips?

Great video. I wish I had that talent. You visited many of my waypoints (Sedona, Midland, New Orleans, Tallahassee). I've never ventured to the Caribbean, though. I look forward to your upcoming travelogs. Steve Thanks, Steve, for watching. The Bahamas are super easy (pretty much always in glide ra...

Great flying and an excellent video.
Thanks, Colin! Just returned from the successful adventure. Upcoming episodes cover our stops in the Turks & Caicos, BVI, Dominica, Nevis, Dominican Republic, and the Exumas/Bahamas.

Flying the Caribbean (Part 3) - Eastbound USA -- How do you divvy up multi-day trips?

osJV9NGqK9Q We're departing California for the Caribbean! Despite timing our departure to travel between weather fronts, challenges nevertheless await... How do you divvy up multi-day trips? Have you crossed the USA coast to coast? How many days did you plan? Flying hours per day? What worked for y...

Re: PIREP on DA40 Supercharged Performance

ChrisP,
In my case (40.922) there was zero change in useful load... Forced Aeromotive removed the 18 pounds of ballast I had on the front of the engine, and installed the 18 pound Supercharger.

Re: PIREP on DA40 Supercharged Performance

Peter, the cowling mod is coordinated by FAT... they send the lower cowling out to a composite shop. The mod involves a "bulge" just below the left air inlet.

Re: Do we need a Plan B already!? Weather Analysis for Flying the Caribbean...

Dave, thanks for the thorough and thoughtful response. I'd say we're very much in sync on all these points.
We'll see how this Caribbean trip plays out... I'm expecting we'll have many adjustments to make :) .
Thanks again, and have a great year flying!

Re: PIREP on DA40 Supercharged Performance

Thanks, Antoine, for the idea of the IAT probe. I'll check with my shop and FAT to see how doable that might be. I only have an indirect feel on inlet temps by what effect the SC has had -- in fact, not had -- on maintaining CHTs. Before and after the SC install, I maintain climb CHTs <400 degF and ...
