DA-20 Upholstery
Just starting my homework before calling Diamond and getting their price. My upholstery is starting to show some age and I want to get it replaced within the next year. Anyone with knowledge of Diamond's price(s)? I currently have leather (or close to leather) and I want to use a higher quality mate...

Re: Aileron hinges
Lawk, Just replaced the bushings and bolt/nuts on my Ailerons and Flaps on my DA-20 during my last annual. Especially for the flaps, the bolts were showing their years of exposure to the elements, the ailerons bolts were more protected and looked better but there some undesired play some of the aile...

Re: Garmin GDL88
Steven I just had a GDL84 and a Flightstream 110 installed in my DA-20 last month. They put the GDL84 under the co-pilot seat and the flight stream is mounted on the side of the comm panel rack. The GPS antenna was mounted to the instrument cover, underneath it. The ADS-B antenna was mounted underne...

Re: DA20-A1 or DA-20C1 - What should I choose?
I'm a C1 owner. It has been a great plane for me. Both the A1 and the C1 are inexpensive to operate (i.e. fuel). Maintenance will be the true test of how inexpensive (or expensive) either one of these will be to operate. The Diamond website has PDF files of the Aircraft Maintenance Manual and the In...

Re: cockpit & intrument lights
Peter, I'm with you - night flights in the DA-20 are just plain fun. There is a Service Bulletin for the strip light over the panel for a Replacement EL Flood Light. The SB has a kit P/N DAC1-33-02AMK0 and runs about $520. This will keep your C1 "to spec." I have one on order to replace th...

Someone out in California take those reporters for a flight so they can get a clue. I would have done no different in the same situation. A three lane highway with moving traffic and minimal power lines is a good option with little risk to those on the ground. Even a compact car occupant would be we...

Re: nose wheel turns in flight pn 681-221 or AM155204
Not sure about the quantity issue. I recently bought 2 from Premier Aircraft Services (Diamond Svc Center in Fort Lauderdale). Part number on my invoice is 681-271, Description: "Disc Spring, DIN 2093 AM-281015. Believe they needed to get it from Diamond in Ontario. Cost per is $2.47 for a tota...

Oops - just noticed I stated something incorrect in my post on METEOGRAMs

SpaceX Rocket Launch and Booster Recovery
Fellow Diamond Flyers, Turns out Diamonds are a sky-gazing pilot's best friend. My daughter and I flew over by Cape Canaveral to watch the SpaceX launch and got to experience what all of us Diamond Flyers already know - the view out the canopy is superior. Watching the night launch was simply specta...
