Re: New member introduction & takeaways
I bought a new plane (our DA40) when I first bought a plane. After ten years I understood enough about maintenance, servicing, and purchasing that I bought our second plane used. Chances are if I buy any more airplanes they will be used. Unlike cars, used planes have to pass an annual inspection and...

Re: New owner insurance rates on DA42 NG?
It's amazing that if you keep asking, the price keeps getting lower.

Re: New owner insurance rates on DA42 NG?
Jonathan, That quote just seems so far outside the possible ranges. Write to Victoria: vneuville@air-pros.com and tell her you'd like to know WHY the prices are so high, if they come back that high still. If it is still outrageous, could you drop the hull value? If you have a loan on the plane, that...

Re: Any DA42 owners in MS, TN or AL?
Jonathan, When you look at some planes online keep in mind that the reclining seats will make a huge difference for him. My father is 6'4" and he was fine flying across the country with me, but he was able to drop the seat back. When we had a DA40 (same cockpit) which had fixed seats that was m...

Re: Engine failure and gear still down...
One of the things that I think about as I take off and grab the gear lever is that raising the gear was the triggering event of one of the first DA42 accidents. I know that since they we got a bunch of redundancy added, but 100 AGL is a bad time to find out that the backup batteries weren't re-attac...

Re: Bose A30 - Unwanted Noise
I would peek at the batteries once a month. I had a quarter leak in my O2 regulator and it was a drag to clean it out at a remote airport.

Re: Misfuelling - Avgas in DA40NG
This happened to me at the Oakland Airport in California. Drain the tanks dry. Put in 10 gallons JetA (probably just 5 would be fine where you are and since you are smaller), slosh about. Drain. Repeat the 10 gallons, slosh and drain a second time. Fill with JetA. I was fine. Didn't start the engine...
