Re: Any DA-42 misfuelings?
Gees, it's written on the dam sticker. How hard can it be. Some people are just so black and white.

Re: Garman Data Bases
Chris, I totally agree on the G1000 that the charts are a waist. I never used them. In my Cirrus it's a different story as there georefersnced, and much easier to read and see. Also much easier to switch back and forth between map and chart. Secondly I currently have two 430W radios so I can still s...

Re: Garman Data Bases
For now I'd just do the pilot pack that gets your your nav data for your IFR training. I wouldn't do it until your ready to start though. Just keep your electronic flight bag on your tablet up to date with VFR charts etc until you really need them. ..no need for you to have approach plates yet until...

Re: Da40 vs sr22 rear seats?
Actually in the SR you really just step straight down in. Getting in the back is easy. The front seats slide up and lean forward with the flick of a switch. Step straight in and sit down. You enter on your seat side too so no sliding over or waiting on the second passenger to get in. Easy.

Re: Modern or classic
I would think it's like buying an old house. You buy it because you love it. You get in cheap because it's gonna cost a lot in upkeep. Could be a money pit. For 5 seats my choice would be: G5 Cirrus. Expensive A36 bonanza. Still not cheap. Cessna 210/206 Piper Saratoga. All of these will do the job ...

Re: Da40 vs sr22 rear seats?
I owned a DA40 for a year and now have owned a SR22 for a little longer. Of course I am riding up front but I've sat in the rear of both of my planes. Both are Roomey and comfortable. I think the Cirrus is a little roomier. The seats are firm in both planes. As for 6 foot tall people, they should fi...

Re: Landing / Taxi Light Replacement
I did LED on mine before I sold it. They were better than the factory halogens but the HID are better.
Nice thing about the LED is you can leave them on all the time.
My Cirrus has the Lopresti HID and ther freeking bright.

Re: Very Cold Start
The best advice I ever got is what Chris gave you. My cold weather routiene is to prime then wait about 60 seconds then fire up the starter. Makes a hughe difference. It just takes time to form the right amount of vapor to fire off when very cold.

Re: Cirrus ditiching with chute close to hawai
Perhaps Cirrus has changed the design to increase low and slow handling characteristics. AFAIK, what has changed is intensive pilot training. Kudos to the Cirrus community for tackling this head-on. As we all know, the nut behind the stick (/yoke) is the primary issue. Another good example i...
