Re: Emergency escape - how to break Canopy?
Good idea. First try to create and propagate a crack starting from one of the windows, then kick the shit out of the canopy to create an opening large enough to get out.

Re: Emergency escape - how to break Canopy?
I don't know the answer to your question. Here are my thoughts about the little orange hammer. It is meant to be used in case the canopy locking mechanism does not work for some reason after impact. In the event of ditching, you will probably end up upside down. The first order of business will be t...

Re: Broken rudder pedal/brake bracket
Flight instruction is really hard on airplanes. Ham fisted students destroy radio buttons, headphone plugs, drain the batteries cranking like madmen on engine startup, and in the case of Piper airplanes crack the wing spars enough to get a wing separation mid air on a relatively young airframe. Re: Avidyne TAS600 ADS-B IN
All of that is depressing. These pricey integrated systems lose value and become obsolete the moment they are installed and then the manufacturers abandon the owners. It's even more frustrating when you think of the incredible capabilities of non certified solutions such as Foreflight with Stratux o...

Re: What's in the bag?
Re the "starter pack"... My DA40 has a 24v system. The referenced pack is 12v. Do you connect two in series? Sandy My airplane is running on a 12 volts bus. you should check your AFM. Perhaps your external power unit port accepts 12 volts even though the avionics bus runs 24 volts. I am j...

Re: What's in the bag?
Good list! I have plenty of barf bags in the plane that I collected in commercial flights.RMarkSampson wrote:Other little bags that occasionally someone will “speak” into. Nothing worse than hunting for a substitute in a crisis.

Pledge with a microfiber cloth for the bubble canopy. Others use Plexus.

Re: What's in the bag?
Also on the portable power, are you feeding the power back through the cockpit power port or through external plug in? What’s the cable and how big is the pack? It's roughly the size of a brick. I use the following, connected to the External Power receptacle on the underside of the fuselage: https:...
