Re: Prop governor follies
My RPM has been limited to the lower 2600's since I bought it. I sent the governor in for calibration and it didn't change anything. I suppose it just needs to be reindexed but I haven't bothered. The screw is adjusted all the way out with room to spare and it's still 2630 or so. I figure it makes u...

Re: Cleaning Wheel Pants
Just be careful with that Simple Green. It seems to mark the paint if it gets left on. It will rub out but takes a little effort. Maybe try a paint cleaner wax.

Re: Engine overhaul time - Lycoming IO-360-M1A
Multi grade oil isn't a great idea during break-in from what I understand. It has the anti-scuff additive in it and that is the opposite of what you want. Look in to going back to straight weight oil till that cylinder settles in. When I ran in my last engine my goal was to run it as hard as I could...

Re: Tiny divots repair on leading edges
First this isn't a boat and is not gel coated. Boat manufacturers aren't the go to on this. That being said you can work on the surface finish of the airplane. Sounds like you are just talking about a little filler and paint.

1.32(L/Dmax)=Carson speed How can we strike an optimum balance between our desire for fuel efficiency and our need for speed? One answer can be found in a seminal research paper written in 1980 by renowned professor Bernard H. “Bud” Carson, Ph.D., of the U.S. Naval Academy. In his paper, Carson exami...

Are the drain holes in your tail skid open? Could the tail skid be filled with water? Flying in rain lately or does it sit outside? Check to make sure ALL of your drain holes on the bottom side of the airplane are clear and open.

Re: DA-40 Defroster
Have you pulled the cover off of the panel and looked at the hose? Is the hose kinked or damaged? I am pretty sure that is the only difference between the let and right sides of the defrost. They come from the same manifold. Check the hose from end to end.

Re: Inspection holes
I found a salvage rear seat pan that had the inspection holes and covers. It really doesn't allow for much inspection. What it is mainly for is access to the pitch and roll autopilot servos. It's not really any good for much else. The front seats are easy enough to remove so it's not really worth do...

Re: IO-390 at TBO time
I would do it if there were an STC but after watching how difficult it was for Forced Aeromotive to get theirs I don't see it happening.
