Re: Repairs
Owning four factory new DA-40's over the past 18 years, I never have had an issue securing Diamond specific parts.

Re: Flaps microswitch change
Thank you. I will remove the complete back seats as I don’t have the access hole on mine. It answers to a first question: I will not remove all the flap actuator, I will use a mirror to do it. Do you know if there are connectors or if the wires are welded to the microswitch? I suppose that there ar...

Re: Flaps microswitch change
I have had to replace two Micro-Switches on my 2010 DA 40 over the past ten years. It is pretty tight area to work in. Access is through the hatch under the left backseat. The S1 micro is the furthest outboard micro and the most difficult reach from the access hatch. (See Illustration) My A&P, w...

Re: Changing oil filter
Not designed properly? Sounds like they were giving you BS. When the shop changes my oil and filter, the engine and surrounding compartment is always just as clean as before they started to work on it. Just saying.

Re: Data Path Failure
I am currently going through the "Data Path" issue. After booting up, I get that message and then "Roll" in a red block which appears in the upper left of the PFD screen. The autopilot and FD will then not engage. The Garmin shop on my field diagnosed it yesterday as a bad roll s...

Re: What Tug to Get
Not to defend Best Tugs (I have one, they've been very responsive to me), but all manufacturers seem to have supply chain issues for component parts right now. Yep, I work in manufacturing also and we are experiencing long delays in our supply chain from vendors of electronics to raw materials such...

Re: Purchased a DA 42 Simulator
I just noticed you are near Orlando which also happens to be the Simulation industry's capital here in the USA with many simulation companies are based there. Also, the big annual simulation show is at the the Orange County Convention Center and called I/ITSEC. https://www.iitsec.org/about-iitsec Th...

Re: Purchased a DA 42 Simulator
Actually, you will need three projectors for a 180 degree HFOV. I see in your drawing that you only show to have two. Also, the the longer the throw distance from the lens to the curved screen the better as shown in the original Diamond design photos posted above. The way you have it drawn may be ex...

Re: Purchased a DA 42 Simulator
Sounds like a great find. That said, sounds like your budget for new projectors are kind of low.

Re: Luxury tax on new aircraft in Canada
I recall when they added the Federal 10% luxury tax here in the USA in 1991. It actually backfired and the government ended losing more revenue than prior to the tax. It was repealed a few years later. https://www.americanexperiment.org/congress-passed-a-luxury-tax-to-tax-the-rich-but-it-brought-in-...
