Re: ECU Test (Ground Run-up)

Where do you see this? I see the E4 Operating Manual and the E4 Overhaul Manual agreeing that runups should be done at or above 50°C.

Re: DA40NG Frustrations

Nick, my kid and I are likely to be in Vegas this Saturday with my airplane, so happy to have you sit and fly (I am not a CFI, so not left seat) in it for a bit. PM me to arrange, if you’d like!

Re: DA40 NG Actual Useful Load

Ditto. My CG is 95.84in, which means that with full tanks I sometimes need some weight in the back with two heavier people. I tend to keep my fuel less than full most of the time, though, so that I don't have to mess with weights as often.

Re: DA40 NG Actual Useful Load

My airplane has an empty weight of 2,043, which leaves 584lbs after full tanks. I don't know where you are looking, but the 940lbs useful load figure is completely incorrect. The Diamond website lists 904lbs but that's before most options that sane people include (e.g. autopilot) and before natural ...

Re: A very big deal -- FAA Approves G100UL for ALL GA piston spark-ignition aircraft

At KSMO, the UL94 pump asks for your tail number and STC number before dispensing fuel. Obviously you can lie and use someone else's, but it's at least one method of driving compliance.

You can also check Turo.com, they seem to have cars available. If you haven't used it before, it's like AirBnB for cars.

Re: Standby Attitude Indicator Replacement

The Mid-continent MD-302 (https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/ ... 302sam.php) is on the new aircraft price list, so it is likely approved for existing ones too as a standby module. Of course, it is also quite expensive and has to replace not just the AI but all the standby instruments.

Re: COM static

I had a similar situation once when I had tried to save money and bought very cheap ($100) headsets off Amazon for my passengers. The microphone was overly sensitive or something similar, and was just always on, so I constantly heard static. I kept trying to mess with squelch etc and nothing helped....

Re: Fuel leak quandary

OK, I have to comment. They discovered the check valve that I pointed out is clearly shown in the AFM? Heh, I took some liberties with my explanation perhaps. They discovered that the valve wasn't just preventing fuel from going left-to-right as documented, but also that it was involved in preventi...
