Re: Diamond: Gust lock fabric torn
I have 5 sets of the main fuel tank keys with my plane. When I tried they key first it did not budge (probably as it had never been locked). Once I sprayed a little LPS on the lock it moved and locked ok. I locked my DA40 only a few times ever in 10 years so I expect that may have been stiff also bu...

Re: DA42 Cold Weather Operations
I flew today and noted the 42 does not leak air from vents and canopy seals like the 40 did so I'll see how this winter goes and hope not to need it. It looks like heat and defrost work well and I bet with both going ( nice to be able to do both as we could not in the 40) it looks like it should be ...

Re: Jeppesen Chartview to Flitecharts
Dave, I'm hoping I don't have to do a complete reinstall just to shift to the Garmin charts. I'm comfortable with the config pages but I never saw the page that just turns off the Jeppesen charts. If it's not there in the base pages then I would have to go to a Garmin shop in case they need to downl...

Re: Transitioning to DA42 questions
So, the next question will be: How long did it take for you guys to learn how to fly the DA42 with the multi engine check ride/flight test (excluding the G1000 itself)? What did you guys do for the check ride/flight test that were specific/pertaining to the DA42? Thank You I spent about 12 hours ba...

Jeppesen Chartview to Flitecharts
Has anyone ever gone back from Jeppesen Chartview to the Garmin Flitecharts? My aircraft came with the Jeppesen Chartview but I don't ever use the Geo-referenced charts on approaches so I just want the less expensive Garmin Flitecharts. The iPad is too slow and I don't want to use that if I don't ha...

Re: DA42 Cold Weather Operations
Has anyone added the cold weather baffle to the DA42 just like the DA40? Is it needed or recommended for winter flying? I had the baffle in my 40 but it is not installed in the 42.
