Re: Best sun shade for DA40?

Is that unique to the DA40 shades? According the FAQ s you can leave on when parked. Jet Shades now has a new formulation that allows them to stay in the windows while parked on the ramp. This new formulation will reflect most heat and absorb only a small portion. They can stay in your windows while...

Re: Best sun shade for DA40?

I've found that while normal shades block glare they do next to nothing with regard to heat. I'm planning on trying the cockpit solution, which is $1000, to see if they can cool things down. They have a 30 day return policy so if it doesn't work I'll return them.

Re: Question about my propeller

Just to check I ran the numbers for 400 lb of pilots at 40 and 10 gallons left. I'm within forward CG IF I keep the 9lb of stuff in the ski tub that I normally carry (oil, ropes, etc.) Without it I'm out of forward CG. The choice of props was made before I bought the plane. I'd actually like to have...

Re: Question about my propeller

Agree with Joey -- adds 1-2 kt, much more durable, but increased vibration, particularly at shutdown. My airplane when it was in a flying club had the MT prop and the resulting dings were large and not field repairable. Mine is a 2003 so the big downside of the aluminum is it's heavier and also make...

Re: O-Ring for Fuel Cap -- looking for part #

Wayne- Looking at the online Illustrated Parts Manual it appears that the O-ring for the fuel cap itself is DIN3771-85X2 NBR. There doesn't appear to be a different type of cap for 50 gal installations. See part 225 at http://ipc.diamond-air.at/ipp/jsp/main.jsp?sig=58E3D935EB05A1E18406495398A547F45F...

Re: Exhaust valve problem options

Bret- That what my research revealed as well so I had my mechanic check the guides. He says he didn't find any slop in them. That said, I agree that the problem will probably eventually return. Nonetheless I'm trying to follow Savvy's Mike Busch's advice to do whatever you can before pulling the cyl...
