I have a 2005 with Hartzell prop and regularly see 141kts at 24 square and 2500ft.-3000ft. burning 9.6gph.

I am new to the G1000 having recently sold my DA20 and upgraded to a DA40-180. So which is the preferred Nav Data and IFR Charts? I need to update for the first time (they recently expired) Jepp or Garmin?

I don't have an XM page so would I only see the XM page if I have the GDL 60 installed? I am trying to figure out if I have one. Is it difficult and costly to install?

Rick: Choosing the right shop is paramount! I went to another large well known (unnamed) shop a few months ago for a simple software update on my G1000. Both Garmin and the shop said it would take 45 mins. 7 hours later it was finally done. They crashed my system and had to get Garmin help to get it...
