Re: Autopilot and trim in the DA40-NG
In addition to the use of VNAV that Russ notes, i.e. arrive at a selected waypoint at xyz altitude... VNAV can also do this for a sequence of waypoints, e.g. a half dozen stepdown altitudes in an Approach or several dozen stepdowns in an Arrival. Powerful stuff well worth learning (including several...

Re: Autopilot and trim in the DA40-NG
Thanks Wayne, I understand the stall protection when climbing with FLC, but why not using it on descends too? What am I missing? Skip, you can use FLC for descents and that might make sense in turbulent air to stay at a safe airspeed structurally... but in nearly-calm air I'm staying full or nearly...

Re: Autopilot and trim in the DA40-NG
You'll want to use FLC for climbs (avoids an inadvertent stall if in a big downdraft) and VS for descents.Diamondskip wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 5:44 pm So, I can use nose-up/down with VS and also with FLC, right?

Re: Autopilot and trim in the DA40-NG
Skip, welcome to this awesome Diamond community! There are a handful of key concepts pertaining to the Flight Director and Autopilot, many of them noted by Rich and Russ above. This 3-part video series on Modern Avionics might help clarify these concepts. I'd also like to double-emphasize what Russ ...

Re: Ken, Brand New Student Pilot… with a Great Touch
Wayne, I noticed you mounted one of your cameras on a mount between the overhead lights. Do you like that better than the attachment on the top of the front canopy? How did you get the mount attached, is it just adhesive? Hans, thanks for watching. When I got my first GoPro, I affixed it to the rea...
