I learned that you need to use 80-85% power to keep up with a Bo.hkavasch wrote:Landed in Iceland... Only 339l diesel consumed so far... But the bastards in the bonanza are always 25 kits faster... 2 day before touchdown in kosh

Good progress! First day with thunderstorms to Scotland. Second day to Iceland. And yesterday via Greenland to Canada. Today just 520 NM to go for Oshkosh. !!!

Re: DA42 from Germany to Oshkosh
This is what makes AirVenture in Oshkosh so cool! People from all over the world come here for the best week in aviation. It is a must do for the bucket list. I live only 20 miles a way so get a chance to go most days. Sadly, Diamond has no presence there this year, which the President of Diamond/Canada did send an email out about saying it was too costly for them to consider this year. However, it doesn't instill a lot of confidence in the brand when it is so obvious that there isn't any representation at all. The only Diamonds on the grounds that I could find were a DA40 and DA42 at the Embrey Riddle University booth and an older DA40 upgraded to Aspen Avionics at a small display away from the main area. I understand times are tough for Diamond right now and that they need to do what they need to do to remain financially viable. Cirrus was getting a lot of attention with the G5 as well as Cessna with the 182 Jet-A and Corvallis. The Corvallis had the G2000. Wow, is that ever sweet! Very intuative and easy to operate.

Dave's DA42-VI should be on display somewhere.Bob C wrote:The only Diamonds on the grounds that I could find were a DA40 and DA42 at the Embrey Riddle University booth and an older DA40 upgraded to Aspen Avionics at a small display away from the main area.

Re: DA42 from Germany to Oshkosh
Sadly our new DA42-VI won't be on display at AirVenture/Oshkosh despite previous plans. A few weeks ago Diamond decided not to exhibit at Oshkosh this year (publicly announced last week via the letter that Diamond Canada sent to their customers and suppliers), removing our commitment and a location to display the plane.Gnomad wrote:Dave's DA42-VI should be on display somewhere.Bob C wrote:The only Diamonds on the grounds that I could find were a DA40 and DA42 at the Embrey Riddle University booth and an older DA40 upgraded to Aspen Avionics at a small display away from the main area.
But we're still coming -- I'm sitting in St. Louis right now waiting for low ceilings here to lift so we can fly our DA42 to Oshkosh possibly today (Wed) or at the latest Thursday morning (we expect to be there through Sunday.) But we'll have to park our aircraft somewhere out in the grass along with thousands of other planes in the General Aviation Parking area located at the far north end of the field.

Hmmmm guess I missed the Diamond memo. At least someone is bringing their Diamond from Europe! Extra Kudos Hans! Glad you still went too Dave, on the bright side you don't have to wrap yellow security tape around your plane now!

Is Premier not having a tent somewhere? If so, wouldn't they want to show off your new VI, Dave?

Re: DA42 from Germany to Oshkosh
Years ago Diamond Canada directly sponsored and staffed a booth at Oshkosh and Sun-N-Fun, with staffing help from the US distributors like Premier. Then Diamond Canada no longer attended, leaving it up to US distributors to create and staff the exhibit, but with some financial contribution from Diamond.
But my understanding this year is that Diamond wasn't able to pay for any of the exhibit costs, so the distributors chose not to come.
So no place to show our plane...
