Double click the main iPad button at the bottom of iPad's screen.Erik wrote:Double click where? I am having the same problem but I don't understand the fix.
It's the same double clik you you use for multitasking.

... and when the line of icons for loaded programs show up along the bottom of the screen, flick them to the right. In their place should show a volume control and a screen brightness slider.

Re: iPad in DA40
There is another (better) way to lock screen rotation (with IOS 4.3.5):gsontheimer wrote:... double click, scroll to the left. This is where the icon for locking the orientation is now.
go to Settings>General>Use Side Switch to and choose Lock Rotation instead of Mute.

Re: iPad in DA40
I have been searching for a notepad app that would allow me to copy and store clearances using either a finger or stylus on the ipad.
It seems as though the ipad could be a more practical alternative to the kneeboard, pens, tablets, plates and charts that I normally have to deal with.

Foreflight has a screen where you can 'doodle' clearances replacing your kneepad.
I have also seen people using a stylus with an iPad although I do not know which ones etc. as I do not use one.

Re: mounting iPad
I just ordered a "seasucker" with the 7" flexible bracket. I measured and it should fit very nicely but will partially block left pilot's vent.
I'll post a review in a week or two.

Re: iPad in DA40
Blocking the pilot's vent sounds more like a feature than an issue.
I'm very interested in seeing pictures of the install when you get a chance.
Right now, my ipad and (backup) kindle live on the copilot seat or copilot lap if I have the seat occupied.

Re: iPad in DA40
I have been attaching my plate holder with a suction device just forward of the canopy window and the new one should fit nicely there. The 7" arm places the centre of the iPad just above and left of the vent.
