Re: Going to OSHkosh 2019???
Will be there all week, working at the Diamond exhibit about 1/2-time.
Got a late start on getting a hotel room, so had to settle for nearby Appleton instead of Oshkosh. Tried to get a rental car in Appleton (where we parked our DA62 last year), but most rental agencies are sold-out and I refused to pay $1K for a Ford Focus for a week.
So we'll be landing our DA62 all the way up north in Green Bay. Green Bay also has the advantage of avoiding the need for IFR "slot reservations" (unlike Oshkosh, Appleton, or Fond du Lac), so you can file normal IFR flight plans for arrival and departure. Milwaukee Approach won't take your IFR handoff from Chicago Center without a slot reservation, and it may be impossible to cancel IFR to get in to KOSH VFR if you're stuck above a cloud layer.
But I don't want to discourage anyone from flying VFR into KOSH via the Fisk/Ripon arrival and landing on one of the colored dots at least once. It should be on every pilot's bucket list.

Coming from Helsinki, staying in Appleton. We have a car and parking booked in OSH, so ride shares could work.
