DA40NG GLIDE SPEED
Now for the PFL (practiced force landings) or any other emergency drill on the DA40NG, the glide speed based on AFM is 88kts. Understood and clear.
However during the approach, if we apply Take off flaps or landing flaps, will the speed still be the same (88kts)? Or should it be differnt ?
Thank you, gday.

Re: DA40NG GLIDE SPEED
Hello,
I’m doing the set up of Foreflight for my da40 and I know what to input for the best glide speed according to this: But I don’t know what to input for the best glide ratio.
Where can I found this value or calculate it?
Thanks!
Arnaud.

Re: DA40NG GLIDE SPEED
Best glide is 88kts. No flaps. Thats from AFM.

Re: DA40NG GLIDE SPEED
Ok. But what is the ratio?

Re: DA40NG GLIDE SPEED
Best glide ratio for the DA40-180 is 8.8 with propeller windmilling and 10.3 with it stopped. See note to Section 3.4 in the AFM. I use 8.8 for my Foreflight.

Re: DA40NG GLIDE SPEED
Thanks.
Why are talking about 88 knots when I read values between 60 and 76?
Ok for 8.8 for the ratio

Re: DA40NG GLIDE SPEED
Ok. So 8.8 for ratio is also for the ng.

Re: DA40NG GLIDE SPEED
The ratio should 1000ft to 1.54Nm on clean config, with glide speed of 88kts. However I think the speed changes with flaps, as mentioned above. Thank you all for your inputs
