We're trying to get aircraft over here and to come up with a mechanism to fix dollar pricing. Sadly, we just missed OSH for a launch, and there were no available planes to display anyway. Stay tuned...when we have something that north american customers can fly, you'll know!

Good to hear that Diamond is working on fixing dollar pricing. However, this is no rocket science, and any prospective owner could talk to his bank about securing a future currency swap position. Now, North American friends, no regrets please if you do that and if it later turns out that you would have been better off without such hedging! Nobody knows, but I would not be surprised if Europe stays in limbo for a while and the US leads the world out recession again. And Republicans and Democrats alike have a very clear incentive to avoid a fiscal cliff. I don't buy the theory that the Republicans just want Obama to fail, damn the consequences. Not this early in his second term anyway..

Sorry, I am drifting the thread here! Let me put it back on track by saying that a friend of mine is happy as a bluebird with his VI. Speeds are as per POH, so pretty impressive when high and at max continuous power!

Who wants to go high and fast? You have to suck on that toxin, oxygen :-D Give me low and slow anyday (like in my DA42) :(

I am with you on that one Cary! Great plane to just sail as a gull, which i do mostly. But the VI does both..

Here's a photo of the DA42-VI referenced in this thread's original post. Interesting artwork. Would love to see what the underside of the plane looks like.

Come on Bo, show some pics of the underside! This way we are just being teased.
If you don't, next time you are here I will shoot them and post them!

I could learn to like this plane without trying very hard.
Anybody know what the pricing structure of the VI is?

Check out Bo's gallery!

Looks cool. I like the beak. Is that a Dodo? (the bird or the band? ;))

The "dash 6" engine cowlings are quite aesthetic.

Note, LH & RH engine cowling seems slightly different - the right side of the LH engine has an interesting grille of sorts, below the turbo.

Never spotted that grille. A/C compressor maybe? Bo?
This is a very versatile plane. The first Diamond that can land on water. And with retractable floats!

I wrote the report on Rocketroute.com if anyone has questions about the DA42-VI then ask away.

Aart. Yes the grill on the back is for the aircon. I really need a cover for it though. I was in Denmark and it was snowed over so I would assume that snow would melt into the grill so would be nice to have a cover you could click into place to protect it from the elements.

I have a question...besides where in the US can I get one?!? ;)

In your plane, with full tanks, exactly how much weight do you have left over for people?
