haha ineed ! but do you mean that with oxygen installed the radar upgrade has an impact on space available? do you have to move the O2 bottle in that case ?

Neema, looking at pictures of your plane I can see a radome already installed ? Does this means -VI are delivered with the radome even when the radar is not installed ?
Thanks

I think so. I think that oxygen bottle have to be moved somewhere in the rear baggage compartment.

Re: Weather radar upgrade on a DA42
Radome is installed but we had ours removed before taking delivery for a $30k credit. Didn't do that kind of flying 5 years ago. Times have changed and we find ourselves driving through quite a bit. I haven't popped off the radome but hopefully it's still wired. May be a matter of buying a 10" GWX68, labor to install, and configuring it on G1000

That is a great upgrade and am sure will add a huge safety margin. Thanks for sharing,

And GWX 70 that I have installed in my NXi DA62 is also now obsolete; newer unit is GWX 75 with a wider field of view (sweep angle). But GWX 75 isn’t certified in our planes with NXi.

Re: Weather radar upgrade on a DA42
Dave,
Do you have any insight when GWX 75 would be certified for DA62 with NXi? Last I heard it was in the "pipeline" but no idea where on the pipeline it is. This is one of the decision criteria for my upgrade options - why purchase airplane that has obsolete tech when it rolls out of the factory. I know GWX70 works too, but newer tech is available, why it's not possible to purchase...

No idea on GWX 75 certification. We can ask next time we talk to Diamond about forthcoming NXi updates for DA42/62. FWIW, GWX 70 currently works great with NXi, including radar overlays on top of MFD and PFD (HSI) moving maps.

Re: Weather radar upgrade on a DA42
I think it's more about having to practically rewire the entire plane than the composite work. Whack the old mounts off with a BFH and superglue new mounts in :p
Not sure how this could possibly be more expensive in hardware either though, we're talking about one antenna versus two GIAs, an MFD, and four servos.
