as they don't want you to do a departure stall in that plane.
Did they say why? Was this because of the airframe or because this is a demo plane?

Nope they didnt say why... seems like that one is such a no-brainer I don't know why they would worry about it... but what do I know

You can push the CWS button to disable ESP as needed. ESP will be disabled as long as the CWS button is depressed.

That is a good thing to know... I have some learning to do with the plane.. if it ever freaking arrives.

Got to fly this in TX this morning. I can second most of what Alan said in his original post. For me, with a lot of hours in my DA 40, flying it for the most part seemed pretty intuitive (other than the G1000, which I would need more time and practice on). Most of the V speeds in the 50 are just a little higher than in the 40. I wasn't impressed with the air conditioning (93 deg F at 0930 when we flew). Cockpit is more comfortable than mine by a long shot. Engine is very quiet, and the engine management is completely automated - just set the power level you want.

Control forces are very heavy. I was trimming almost constantly, every maneuver and change in configuration. The demo pilot actually complimented me on that, apparently a lot of pilots he takes for demo flights don't know what trim is...

My one landing was pretty nice (I think) - a stable approach - heard rather than felt. Thank you, trailing link gear. For someone with the right mission, it could be a nice aircraft.

I talked to the pilot who I flew with. It was a crazy windy day in a new plane for him and he felt that it was not the day to put a big powerful plane in that flight attitude. Since then he has done ton's of those stalls and it is apparently very well behaved. Bottom line is that it wasn't diamond and they are very happy to have the departure stall performed.

I am teaching my son... and today we did the departure stall in my DA40... and it almost won't stall.... and when it does the stall is very gentle.

It sometimes called the "falling leaf" stall. So different from a C172 nose drop.

I have a fun video of my first time solo out of the pattern dropping a wing precipitously in a DA40 I was renting for training. It turns my stomach just watching it. Oddly, my personal DA40 seems entirely benign by comparison - I'll have it fully mushing basically to the stops and still be climbing. Maybe my technique has gotten that much better over the years?
