FAA AD 2023-20-03: Reciprocating Engine Cylinder Section, Reciprocating Engine Oil System

Post by manatee »

Well it looks like the 50 hr oil analysis for MSB 039 has become an AD. Good news is it seems to have an effective date of December. Bad news is you're grounded until the oil analysis results come back. The early pistons/core replacement is becoming more and more attractive.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued the following AD:

https://drs.faa.gov/browse/excelExterna ... 00000.0001

Models:
Engine| Austro Engine GmbH| E4
Engine| Austro Engine GmbH| E4P

The way I read this is that the grounding is only for the initial oil sample, so unless your plane is brand new you should already have sample history from previous oil changes, or the last 50hr sample if you were already following the MSB
