Garmin G5 installed
I got my G5 installed. This was done by getting a field approval for form 337. Moved the old AI over to the top left panel. So I have an absurd amount of redundancy for the AI. Two AIs : one with the Diamond emergency battery backup and one with its own 4 hour battery backup. Plus main ship battery.
Field approval was overnight from KVNY fsdo.
Very readable and bright.
If my HSI goes out, I will put the HSI version in.

Re: Garmin G5 installed
That's good news for those of us with older DA40s. Were you required to keep your old AI as part of the 337 approval or was that optional? Thanks.

Re: Garmin G5 installed
I did not research that question because I planned on keeping older AI as a backup.
I think the answer is that the old AI is optional

If you have a chance, I'd love to see a picture of how the panel looks with it installed

Re: Garmin G5 installed
Looks good. Is the old AI still connected to the emergency battery pack?
