Re: Go around button on xls throttle?
Just curious, what was the logic in having the Go-around button disconnect the autopilot on the models without ESP (Electronic Stability and Protection)? Would it have been too dangerous?

Without envelope protection provided by the ESP the risk is a coupled go-around causing a stall if either too low of a power setting or too high pitch attitude is selected by the pilot.
The fly-by-wire aircraft such as the Airbus’s and Boeing 777/787 do fully coupled go-arounds integrated with autothrottles and envelope protection, with or without the autothrottles.

Re: Go around button on xls throttle?
In ESP versions, does the green GA still appear in both Lateral and Vertical mode status boxes (like older models) or does it remain as GPS/GP? Got wondering as I was watching Smithsonian's Air Disasters last night about an Air China accident at Nagoya where the FO accidentally hit the TOGA and they didn't notice the panel indicator. No manual stick override on the original A300's and they stalled over the runway. Out of curiosity, tried checking latest release of MSFS2020, no GA in the status boxes.CFIDave wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 5:15 am ... the GA button doesn't kick off the autopilot. All you have to do after hitting the Go-Around switch on the throttle is to apply full throttle and raise flaps (and gear on Diamond twins), i.e., you eliminate steps 3, 7, and 8 in the instructions I provided earlier in this thread.
