Diamond introduced a generational hybrid as "NXI-Phase1" for Austro-powered models only with the GFC700 in 2017-2018. Unlike Cessna, they never certified a KAP140 solution with Phase 1 as an upgrade path.
Although there was a brief discussion about this possibility and on one of our meetings and Garmin confirmed feasibility. It was even listed in one of the early versions of upgrades wishlist.
