My shop charged me $245 for the strut, including shipping (but not including any labor since I did that part myself).

Re: Canopy Latch gas strut
I purchased one earlier this year and had it shipped from a Diamond service center. Seemed a bit excessive but the price on the invoice was $121.04 plus $21.33 freight from Diamond. I'm not sure how much of the cost was from Diamond and how much was markup from the service center.

Re: Canopy Latch gas strut
Clearly my shop marked it up quite a bit then! They had $223 for the part and $22 shipping.

Re: Canopy Latch gas strut
Where did you yours from Mark? I too have found a huge variance in pricing/markup and shipping charges from various dealers for Diamond parts. Definitely worth shopping around.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Gibbs Service Center in San Diego (http://gibbs.aero/).
I'm actually located in Portland Oregon but there are no Diamond service centers nearby. The previous owner of N123MZ had Gibbs do all the maintenance on the plane since new so I just contacted them for the part.

Mark, guess you got lucky on the price... Just talked to Gibbs and now it's 160 + undetermined shipping cost.

Re: Canopy Latch gas strut
FWIW -
Diamond shows two versions of this part.
D41-5211-60-91 $155.19
D41-5211-60-91_01 $202.98
I can't for the life of me figure out what the difference would be though. I was under the impression that the front and rear were identical.

Re: Canopy Latch gas strut
Looking for anyone who was present during gas spring change... For the first step, push roll pin through inner handle, does it just fall into the door innards when you punch it through, and I should be ready with a new one, or am I missing something?

Re: Canopy Latch gas strut
I think we used a pair of pliers once we punched it through most of the way. This is one of the reasons that Diamond says to remove the canopy in its entirety, it makes fumbling around in there much easier. Removing the canopy is not difficult but is a two person job.
My gas strut has failed yet again so I'll be doing this again soon.

Re: Canopy Latch gas strut
the back side/outside exit hole is not visible with the handle still installed. How would you get to it with pliers?
