The key is for new buyers to put financial disincentives in their contracts for DAI not certifying timely updates. It’s absolutely ridiculous they are still shipping GWX70 radars, there is an open question as to whether the GWX8000 will be EoL before the certification date. The GWX8000 is a rebranded GWX80, released 6 years ago (Oct 2017) - it is due for a HW update cycle.

If the incentive is there, they will allocate the resources. No reason they can’t transfer the TC back to EASA and quit using Transport Canada as an excuse. They just lack the incentive.

Market is moving. New buyers, ignore everything your broker says and only sign if you have guaranteed aircraft update pipeline. The lack of R&D spend on the DA62 is pathetic.

You nailed it and said what most owners are afraid to say. The distributors will never sign a contract with any update requirement, with or without incentives/disincentives. If we take DAI-C at their word, then Transport Canada is the one and only problem. Two solutions:

a) Move the TC back to Austria.

b) Build engines in Europe and airframes in Canada, but move final assembly to Wichita and the TC to the US.

Q4 release? They've been promising this for several years.

Phase II: 2019
Phase III: 2024
Phase IV: 2029? Roughly the same year that Garmin will introduce the G1xxx and obsolete the G1000 & G1000NXi.

I bought a DA-40 in 2003. The second with a G1000. What was true then is true today. Virtually the same words and conversations from the customers and ... silence from Diamond. This is perhaps why everyone I know says buy EAB versus certificated if possible and never, ever, anything with an integrated flight deck.

And despite years of warnings about Diamond's reputation, people still buy these planes and then wonder why they are getting less than stellar support and upgrade paths. Same with Austro engines...

I am watching Garmin and Avidyne on the Cirrus side (COPA member). Avidyne has been showing off their path forward for the older Entegra based planes (it is called Vantage). Avidyne has hinted, but not said outright, that they have a path forward to upgrade older G1000 planes.

I recall reading stuff on the G1000, but I cannot recall what the answer was. And I very might well be confusing other brands...
