DA40 mixture or throttle cable
Looking for a cable to replace a broken one. Diamond says 14 month back order. Anyone have some new or used parts they would sell?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: DA40 mixture or throttle cable
Here is what I heard back from Premier:
> D4F-7103-12-00 - use 580-708-149
> The company that made 580-708-149 has closed operations.
> Purchasing and Engineering are both working on this, however, it may still be several months before this is resolved.
> As the part number will most likely change, we cannot provide a quote at this time.
Brittany also suggested that McFarlane makes control cables. It may be worth reaching out to them to see if they can make a PMA'd cable based on your failed cable. Mine is still sort of working but close to failure, but if you're AOG that may be the best way forward.

Re: DA40 mixture or throttle cable
Brittany also shared the following:
> I don't know which cables specifically, but some of them have a metal piece inside the cable that snaps and needs to be replaced. That metal piece can be replaced without replacing the entire cable. The metal piece is called "core stock" and Diamond sells it under PN T22700034. It's precut into 4 meter lengths. Maybe that'll help?
I also reached out to McFarlane. In my case I need a replacement "dust cap" and the cable is quite stiff.

Great question. I suspect Diamond has a stash of cables for themselves and are trying to resolve in the 14 month timeframe that was quoted above.

Re: DA40 mixture or throttle cable
The part number in question is for the DA40F (carbureted version), which Diamond is not producing anymore. There are different part numbers for the -180 fuel injected planes. Are these also unavailable?
2002 DA40-180: MT, PowerFlow, 530W/430W, KAP140, ext. baggage, 1090 ES out, 2646 MTOW, 40gal., Surefly, Flightstream 210, Orion 600 LED, XeVision, Aspen E5

Re: DA40 mixture or throttle cable
McFarlane confirmed they can make the cable and are authorized to do so. But they don't have specs so they'd need a cable in hand to measure. I'm not AOG so I won't pull mine off for them, but that may be a good solution for the OP. I will follow up to see if they can just make the "dust cap" I need -- I have the old one, but it's cracked. Still not sure what to do about the stiffness.

Re: DA40 mixture or throttle cable
Diamond told Premier this is the part for my plane and it is unavailable. The P/N on my cable is illegible so I can't confirm; and the IPC doesn't seem to list an actual part number for the DA40-180. Do you have another reference, Rich?

Re: DA40 mixture or throttle cable
There is a part number in the IPC for the throttle cable, but you're right it doesn't have a part number for the mixture control.
