Safe Flight lift detector repairs

I have a DA42 with a lift detector p/n C-99701-1. According to my mechanic, the paint may be starting to come off, so I should think about a repair.

Problem is, I called SafeFlight, and was quoted ~$3k for a repair, almost the same price as a new one!

Are there any other options? (Yes I know there's a used one on eBay, and I've spoken with BlueBird about it.. it's in unknown condition.)
