Ceramic Coating for DA-40 NG
Hi everyone - I purchased a 2020 Da-40 NG a couple weeks ago. Absolutely loving her. I'd like to return to the shine to some spots on the wings and cowling where there is some oxidation from the Florida sun. Has anyone had issues with ceramic coatings? I heard that Cirrus had some problems with the static ports, but I'm guessing that's not the case for our Diamonds.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
BTW, I keep her hangared at MYF so we won't be having these sun issues going forward!
Thanks!
Tim

Congrats on your recent DA40-NG purchase!
There are several threads on the forum regarding ceramic coatings.

Re: Ceramic Coating for DA-40 NG
As noted in some of those other threads, I did the coating on my 62 and it looks great. No issues so far and I've not really heard of any...
Cheers

I posted on this elsewhere too. My 2019 DA 40 NG has no hangar. Got ceramic about a year ago. Glad I did. Cleans easily. So slick anything I put on wing slides off. Do it!

Re: Ceramic Coating for DA-40 NG
A bit of a rookie question here but how would one typically go about getting the ceramic coating? DIY or professional application?

Fred, for what it's worth I would definitely go professional. The lads that did mine took a little over two days and they worked their tails off, they had the right steps, crawlers and lights. All the correct tools and of course products. They also brought along a professional diligence that it had to be perfect, I think I would have settled for "good enough" if I had been doing it on my own. From previous threads, somewhere between 2-3K gets it done.

I would go professional too. Being from Atlanta, we don’t have “lads” available to do the work, but I do know that the guys who did mine took about two days to do it and it is quite well done.

I had my DA42 professionally done by a certified installer based at OCR Aviation, in KLGB. The result was excellent. See pic of the shine and clarity. No issues at all. You are not that far from KLGB. If you like me to do an intro, PM me please.
Thanks!
Peter
