Was given these from Tech Rep in Canada....said to use wing tiedown eyelet, will thread into side of engine above sump, disconnect left forward and aft mount to allow engine to lift "tilt" up for access to sump.

Just an FYI -- New 12.9 bolts installed, and old ones below.

Super! Full engine removal looks like. Love to hear how much time was required to complete the task.ingramleedy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 4:40 pm Just an FYI -- New 12.9 bolts installed, and old ones below.

We had the engine already off to fix sealant for two oil leaks that required the engine to come off, then the MSB came right before putting it back. I've been down for several months working thru the warranty logistics, parts, holidays, and now the MSB... Staying positive, hopefully should have it all back together and tested soon. Fingers crossed.FlyingPenguin wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 6:10 pm Super! Full engine removal looks like. Love to hear how much time was required to complete the task.

Thanks for the update. Ouch, new plane teething pain story! We all get them. I have my share of issues with my DA42-VI too. Yup, staying positive is the key.ingramleedy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 6:21 pmWe had the engine already off to fix sealant for two oil leaks that required the engine to come off, then the MSB came right before putting it back. Like other new DA40 NG owners (got mine in December) I’m very frustrated by this. Originally thought I was in group 2 and had 300 hours (plane has 15 hours on Hobbs right now), but found out today I was in group 1. Scheduled for the fix on the 27th, but after being a first time owner for two months now I’ve only flown the plane for 2 hours due to various issues including a fuel gauge that was showing incorrect quantity (it mysteriously fixed itself after a week just as it was going to the shop). Also already have a big scratch on the tail winglet when someone pulled it out of the hanger and turned too early.
I do hope owning a new plane becomes more enjoyable at some point. Right now it’s just hanger fees, insurance and databases.
Thanks for listening to me whine about my first world problems.

Just picked up my plane from the shop. Was told that total work time was ~15hrs. They had to source engine sealant from a local Benz dealership.

Picking mine up from KBDN later this week or next week, heard ~20 hrs per engine roughly.

This translates to 2-3 persons working one whole day per engine.
